Overcoming scepticism of God; both within and outside the church Part 1

Scripture           Luke 24

Old movements, wine skins and structures are falling apart with more people finding the church irrelevant than ever before.

When people turn from God, Jesus turns with them. So, why are we so quick to give people a verse and bumper sticker cliché than to walk with them in their journey?

We create these weird religious environments where everyone is nervous to come and face their anger, their frustration, their disappointments.

It creates lots of fake and pretentious people. It robs the church of the opportunity for genuine vulnerability with one another

Let us not make a doctrine to disrupt, but a journey to Jesus…

Luke 24 and John 20

You cannot find the word doubt in the story about “Doubting Thomas”. If I read it through the traditional, religious lens of doubting Thomas. I become sceptical about him, his faith, his commitment.
But if I read the story through God’s heart, I do not see a man who in doubting God. I see a man who is desiring God, a man who wants to touch Him, who wants to see Him.

There are people in our community who are longing and desire the genuine, the real, who are looking for Real Life.

For us to do this well, we need to mature! There is a greater level of maturity that is required of us. So that we can meet people in their confusion and in their scepticism. People who of walking in the wrong direction and bring them back to King and Kingdom.

Scripture :Luke 24

We are entering into a decade when most people are going to keep the convenience of what they like with regards to church, culture, community and calling while at the same time guttering the church of its Cost Commitment and Restraint. Where people want the kingdom without the King.
God never promised us happiness, He promised us holiness. When we believe that everything is about happiness we move into a mindset where everything becomes around tolerance.
